President Trump Delivers Inspiring Message at APEC, Draws Cheers

President Donald Trump spoke at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit to Pacific Rim leaders in Vietnam on Friday. His speech was again dynamic and appeared to be a plea to strengthen relations in the Indo-Pacific region and promoted economic security, which he said will lead to “national security.”

Trump echoed the America First concept and pushed leaders to practice nationalism by putting their countries first too. Trump said, “We are not going to let the United States be taken advantage of anymore. I am always going to put America first, the same way I expect all of you in this room to put your countries first.” The full speech is posted below.

President Trump was met with cheers throughout his inspirational speech. Here are key quotes along with the full video:

“Throughout my travels, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the good news from America. I’ve had the honor of sharing our vision for a free & open Indo-Pacific — a place where sovereign & independent nations, w/diverse cultures & many different dreams, can all prosper side-by-side.”

“In more and more places throughout this region, citizens of SOVEREIGN and INDEPENDENT nations have taken greater control of their destinies, and unlocked the potential of their people.”

“Today I am here to offer a renewed partnership with America — to work together to strengthen the bonds of friendship and commerce between all of the nations of the Indo-Pacific, and together, to promote our prosperity and security.”

“The United States has been reminded time and again in recent years that economic security is not merely RELATED to national security – economic security IS national security. It is vital to our national strength.”

After seeing how the President’s Asia trip has gone so far, it’s clear that all nations in the region (minus North Korea) have high respect for him and his promoted policies. It will be interesting to see how the rest of his trip plays out.
