Hollywood star and singer Barbra Streisand hopped back in the political ring, conveniently in time for the midterms.
Streisand made headlines during the 2016 election after saying in an interview with an Australian news outlet, “I’m either coming to your country [Australia], if you’ll let me in, or Canada” if Donald Trump won the election.
Fast forward two years later, Streisand is still comfortably residing in America despite Trump’s 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton.
And in a recent interview, Streisand sang a similar tune as she did back in 2016. However, now she is using the race for House as the determiner on whether or not she will move out of the U.S.
Streisand told the New York Times that if Democrats can’t retake the majority back from Republicans in the House of Representatives, she may end up moving to Canada.
Streisand was asked by the New York Times how she was feeling in recent days. She responded with, “I want to sleep nights, if we take the House I’ll be able to sleep a little bit better.”
And when she was asked what would happen if Democrats don’t take the House, Streisand said, “Don’t know. I’ve been thinking about, do I want to move to Canada? I don’t know. I’m just so saddened by this thing happening to our country. It’s making me fat.”
The pressure is on for Streisand once again, as now it will take a whopping 23 Republican House seats being flipped for Democrats to retake control.
Current polls suggest Democrats have a good shot of winning back control of the House, but we all know how well polls did predicting the outcome of the 2016 election. The silent majority could strike and prove polls wrong once again!
And as for Streisand and her threat to leave America if things don’t go her way. If this is truly a mechanism to help sway support for Democrats, 2016 should have been a wake up call that it’s not effective. Afterall, what normal & hard working American has the luxury, like Streisand, to pick up and move to another country at the flip of a switch?
