On Sunday, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson and another 54-year-old by the name of Jeffrey Monroe were killed by a drunk driver in an auto accident.

According to Washington Times, 37-year-old Alex Cabrera Gonsales was listed as the man who was accused in the DUI-crash. Gonsales’ black F-150 truck into Jackson and Monroe and then tried to flee the scene. It was found out later on that Cabrera is a Mexican immigrant that authorities have been trying to deport.

Per the Washington Times:

Booking documents from the Marion County Jail, which can be searched for at http://inmateinfo.indy.gov/IML and found at case number 1804804, show that Mr. Cabrera Gonsales is an immigrant from Mexico who is subject to deportation.

…The booking document, which specifies that Mr. Cabrera Gonsales has a detainer request on him, does not say whether was in the U.S. illegally or as a legal permanent resident who can still be deported for a serious crime.

‌According to the booking document, Gonsales didn’t have a driver’s license and and had a blood-alcohol level of at least .15, which is almost twice the legal limit in Indiana. As stated above, he was also charged with trying to flee the scene.

The Indianpolis Colts took to Twitter to pay respects for Jackson, who was linebacker for the team for 2 straight seasons. Here are a few of the tweets by the team and current and former players:
