Senate Republicans made history, all without the help of all Democrats and a single Republican Senator, after passing the tax reform bill 51-49. Mitch McConnell spent months hammering out the bill to get the “Yes” votes necessary from fellow Senators. Here is video of the historic moment it was passed:
Earlier this year, the idea of tax reform did not appear to be possible as President Trump’s opposing forces from within the Republican Party wanted to hinder any progress all because they had a hard time accepting Trump’s Presidency.
But after long meetings behind chamber doors, Senators were able to put their differences aside to pass one of the biggest tax overhauls of our time, which will affect all businesses and people of the United States. Only one Republican Senator, who has also been one of President Trump’s biggest foes this year, sided with Democrats and voted “No” leading to at 51-49 passing. And who was it?

Senator Bob Corker (R-TN), who won’t seek re-election in 2018, is the only Republican who voted against the proposal. We suspect he did so to make another disgraceful political statement, however Corker cited concerns about the country’s deficit as reason for not voting for it.
According to CNN:
‘Corker left aides and colleagues fuming Thursday night with a dramatic showing on the Senate floor that included him huddled around the Senate’s parliamentarian and GOP leaders for more than hour, offered conciliatory remarks Friday morning at a closed-door GOP conference meeting.’
Corker released the following statement as to why he couldn’t vote for tax reform:
“This is yet another tough vote. I am disappointed. I wanted to get to yes. But at the end of the day, I am not able to cast aside my fiscal concerns and vote for legislation that I believe, based on the information I currently have, could deepen the debt burden on future generations.“
This is coming from a man who put up zero fight to Obama’s policies that sent America trillions and trillions more in debt while President. And we NEVER saw the shenanigans out of Corker while Obama was President like we do now as he often likes to spar with Trump.
Do you think Corker’s “No” vote was directly related to his disdain for President Trump? Comment your response below and share to expose Corker’s latest controversial move.
