It is very interesting when you see what spin Russia is putting on the Mueller Investigation about “interference in the 2016 election”. A reporter interviewed The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to get his take on the latest with Manafort indictment and focusing in on Papadopoulos.
To get a little background, let’s turn the clock back to May 2017 so we can get an idea of who the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, is. As reported by Radio Free Europe Radio Liberty: “on May 5th, he met with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and later that day with President Trump to discuss the Syrian situation. Russia had backed a war that killed 9,000 in eastern Ukraine. Trump discussed the issue of Ukraine, the White House said, and Trump “stressed Russia’s responsibility to fully implement the Minsk agreements,” which set out conditions for a cease-fire in eastern Ukraine.
At the time of the meeting, President Trump had said: “I think that we are going to do very well with respect to Syria. I think things are happening. They are really, really, really positive.” And President Trump “stressed the need for progress toward full implementation of the Minsk agreements” and told Lavrov that “sanctions on Russia will remain in place until Moscow reverses the actions that triggered them. “In a statement released later, the White House said Trump urged Lavrov to “rein in” Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Iran. Both are close allies of Russia. Lavrov, meanwhile, told reporters at the Russian Embassy that Trump wanted “mutually beneficial, businesslike, pragmatic” relations with Moscow”.”
Now, let’s fast forward to today. Lavrov was quoted as saying regarding meddling in the U.S. Elections: “We are accused of interfering not only in US elections but also in those of other countries without one piece of evidence,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, according to Agence France-Presse. “We are accused of interfering not only in US elections but also in those of other countries without one piece of evidence,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. There are reports that “we don’t just interfere in elections, we manipulate the weather and bring about floods,” Lavrov joked. “Everyone likes to talk but no one can present any facts.” A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin said interfering claims are completely unfounded and blamed it on “Russophobia.”
“We refuted this from the very beginning and we refute this now,” Dmitry Peskov said. “Any accusations that emerge from a US investigation into US citizens do not concern us: this is America’s internal business and we simply observe with interest.” Quotes are from the New York Post and Miami Herald.
Yesterday, “The Russian International Relations Council has confirmed contact with Papadopoulos, but said a meeting never took place. The council insisted that it was an independent advisory body and that it hosts many politicians at various public meetings.”
Asked about the man mentioned in the indictment, Lavrov told reporters on Tuesday that he “does not see anything illegal” in the interaction.
Interesting, that our left wing biased mainstream media want to build the RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA media campaign. And although, the relationships are complicated on the world stage, it is curious why the left would not want to work with Russia to assist in issues like Syria – could it be because they want a strained relationship with Russia so the Uranium One deal will not come to light? Afterall, it’s interesting reporters don’t ever ask if Russians interfered in our Energy and Uranium markets. Let us know what you’re thinking about this below in the comments section.
