It’s no secret that the Democrats have enjoyed using the fact that Donald J Trump did not release his tax returns to them. So they could preen through them and have attack material for up to eight years.
They even went on a National campaign for each State to require future President’s to release their Tax Returns. Of course, it was just meant for media hype to hang another tail on the proverbial donkey of negative coverage for Trump.
And as all media hype campaigns end…this one ended the same way. Dead.
The Democrats have failed to pass the State law to require President’s to release their Tax Returns in the 23 States who jumped on board back in March. New York, California, New Hampshire, Hawaii and Massachusetts were some of the early spear headers. First, New York failed to pass it. And last night, Jerry Brown of California – vetoed the Bill. It’s dead. Just like the Russia Collusion media hype story plot line.
These types of attacks are meant simply to demean the Presidency.
Back in January at a conference, President Trump said “The only ones who care about my tax returns are the reporters.”
And according to Pew Research, 53% of Republican leaning voters believe he does NOT have a responsibility to release his tax forms. And once again, President Trump has a majority of American’s watching his back.
What is the reason the Democrats don’t want to follow through with their own national campaign? Because they realized they would be setting their own future candidates up. This is what Brown wrote:
“First, it may not be constitutional. Second, it sets a ‘slippery slope’ precedent. Today we require tax returns, but what would be next? Five years of health records? A certified birth certificate? High school report cards? And will these requirements vary depending on which political party is in power?”
President Trump has said he would not release his returns because they were being audited by the IRS, though the IRS has said there is no regulation prohibiting someone from making their returns public while under audit. Although, Trump Attorney’s recommended that he not release them while under audit.
Looks like the Dems hit a wall trying to tear away Trump’s tax forms. Drop a line below and let us know if you think they should be required or not.
