On Sunday, former Democrat Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton defended NFL National Anthem protesters who kneel while America’s song plays. She also recently blamed Russia for stirring the debate by using hashtags such as #TakeAKnee at another similar event.
She was promoting her book ‘What Happened’ at the Southbank Centre’s London Literature Festival when comments were made regarding player protests. According to FOX News, Clinton urged Democrats to use the issue against President Trump.
Hillary made the following comments:
“Actually, kneeling is a reverent position. It was to demonstrate in a peaceful way against racism and injustice in our criminal system.”
She urged supporters to resist “what are very clear dog-whistles” to the Trump base. And said that’s exactly how NFL players are showing their resistance to the White House. Clinton said
“That’s what black athletes kneeling was all about. That’s not against our anthem or our flag.”
And then continued to urge all Democrats to fight and resist:
“I think it would be a grave error for Democrats to recede from those fights, so therefore we have to stand up, fight back, resist.”
Hillary recently made similar comments at a book promotion event, when she was caught on video saying players are not protesting the flag but are protesting “racism and injustice.” Here is video of Hillary making comments:
In the video, she also pointed her finger at Russia for inflaming the NFL player protest situation, clearly showing she is very out of touch with how at least half of America feels about the on-field demonstration.
Millions of Americans have voiced outrage over players kneeling, so much that NFL Roger Goodell, who originally defended player protests, was forced to send a letter to all league members stressing the importance of standing during the anthem.
Hillary’s rhetoric is no surprise as she always tries to find a way to undermine President Trump’s stance. His Americanism crusade goes against Clinton’s globalist ideology and she still seems highly irritated that President Trump won against her in a surprise 2016 victory.
Clinton still to this day struggles to explain why she lost, pointing to everything from Russia to misogynists to Comey for her defeat.
